Concept of Induction Heating

The basic concept of an induction heating system is an AC power supply, induction coil, and work piece (material to be heated or treated). The power supply sends alternating current through the coil, generating a magnetic field. When the work piece is placed in the coil, the magnetic field induces eddy currents in the work piece, generating precise amounts of localized heat without any physical contact between the coil and the work piece.

Selection Of Operating Frequency

There is a relationship between the frequency of the alternating current and the heating depth to which it penetrates in the work piece; Medium frequencies (5 to 30kHz) is effective for thicker materials requiring deep heat penetration and Heating for Forging, while high frequencies of 30 to 100kHz are effective for low case depth and Brazing etc.
